How It Works

Aussieraces.com
carried out research and found that 10 key factors that ‘flag’ that a horse is likely to perform well are –

The horse has a (1) Class or (2) Weight Advantage, it has run (3) Fast Overall Time or (4) Fast Sectionals at it’s most recent start or has a (5) High Strike Rate. Another key indicator is that the horse is likely to get a (6) Good Run in today’s race based on speed map analysis. A horse which put in a (7) Big Run (i.e ‘Black Book Run’) at it’s most recent start or which has (8) Strong Form Lines also has an increased probability of winning. A horse which is the (9) Top Rated runner based on standard ratings has good winning prospects (Top rated horses win around 30% of all races) whilst another key factor is being (10) Heavily Backed as this can be a sign that a horse has worked particularly well or an indication of stable confidence.

In each race we identify which horses meet these key criteria and then make our selections based on this weight of information. In short, our selection methodology is a holistic approach that doesn't rely on any one factor or just a few factors, but rather on all the factors that point to a horse performing well.

Please note these factors are further explained at the bottom of this page.

Aussieraces.com Race Day Information Further Explained

Best On Class – We assess each horse’s recent performances and the classes they have been racing in to identify which horse has a class edge on it’s rivals.

Best Weighted – Racing Guru Don Scott said ‘weight is right’. We analyse the class, the weight to be carried and line up horses through their past meetings to identify which horse is weighted to win.

Best On Times – The horse which runs the quickest time gets to the winning post first. We analyse the times horses ran at their most recent starts to decide which is fleetest of foot. Horses which regularly record fast times usually have good strike rates.

Best Sectionals – A formula one Ferrari obviously accelerates a lot quicker than an average family sedan. Acceleration is also feature that separates top gallopers from average horses. Sectional times analysis allows us to identify which horses accelerate the fastest over the final stages of their races.

Best Strike RateA horse which wins a high percentage of its races is likely to be very versatile, have a great will to win and above all possess a good amount of ability. These are the kinds of gallopers that we like to put our money on so we identify the horse with the best strike rate in every race that we cover. Some years ago a study was carried out that showed that if you backed the horse in a race with the best strike rate in each race and ignored all other factors you could come out in front with a profit.

Best Run in Race – Our Advanced Speed Map shows you where each horse is likely to settle in the run, the horse set to get the ‘run of the race’ (highlighted in red) and which runners are likely to be favoured or disadvantaged by the tempo. We assess each horse’s racing style and their barrier draw to decide where each horse will settle in the run and how they will be suited by the pace of the race. We then pinpoint which horse is set to get the best run in the race. Horses which have the best runs win often.

Best Last Run – Horses often put in an eye catching, big ‘black book’ run that suggests they are ready to win at their next start. We view the videos of each galloper’s latest run to identify horses which have ‘their hoof on the till’.

Best Form Lines – The strength of each horse’s form can be measured by the form of the horses around them. If a horse comes through a race from which their were many subsequent winners the form can be considered to be strong and a good lead. If most of the horses out of a particular race performed poorly at their subsequent runs the form can be assessed as being weak. We check the form around each horse in a race to find which galloper has the best form credentials.

Best Rated – Our unique ratings methodology takes into account many factors. We identify the top rated runner for you in every race that we cover. Our top rated runners win around 30% of all races.

Best Backed – Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Heavily backed horses often win. The support may occur days before a race is to be run. We keep an eye on betting movements in the lead up to each race to let you know where the money is going.

Selections All of these criteria strongly point to winners.
We weight up all of the above information to identify which horses have the best winning credentials and make our selections on that basis.

Aussie Odds – Our approximated ‘True Odds’ of each horse winning.

Best Bets - Depending on the event in question and the amount of value on offer, we may recommend either one, two or even three Best Bets in each race.
