Whiston
This lightly raced galloper put in a more than handy performance when resuming at Moonee Valley last start. Despite being tardily away and hampered early in the home straight he still finished within a couple of lengths of the winner. Whiston will be fitter for that first up hit out (he has won second up previously) and better suited by the roomier Sandown Hillside circuit today. He's also proven in heavy going, which is no surprise, as he's by Scenic and the breed tend to eat up the mud.

Red Collossus
This Greg Eurell trained galloper stumbled badly and all but fell on the home turn at Sandown Hillside last start so he did a great job to pick himself up again and run home gamely to finish on the heels of the place getters. That third up run will have brought Red Collossus to peak fitness for today's race. Hard, race fit horses are the ones that tend to feature in testing heavy conditions. Red Collossus is also proven in the heavy conditions having won on a bog track at Ballarat.

Denman
There are a lot of people who say that this potential champion can get knocked over today but its hard to deny his super record. He's won 9 of his past 10 starts and each of those wins was by a good margin - no horse got close to him at the finish in any of those victories. At his latest outing at Caulfield Denman got away tardily, was hunted up to lead, accelerated away from his rivals in the home straight and was actually being eased down well before the finish. Being a Group 1 winner, Denman has a class edge over most of his rivals in this race. He's also clearly the best weighted runner in the event.

This proven weight for age performer put in an eye catching run in the St. George Stakes at his last start. After drawing wide, Heart Of Dreams had to 'use a bit of petrol' early to get a forward position. Heart Of Dreams loomed up to win the race at the 100 metre mark but didn't quite go on at the end of it as his early effort and lack of fitness told. That second up hit out will have brought the horse to his peak for today's race. He's racing third up today.
