Not Good Form

The Herald Sun racing form guide had a change on Saturday and it certainly wasn’t a change for the better. Form guides can be notoriously hard to read at the best of times so the decision to make the print 20% smaller again and even more difficult to read is baffling to say the least. Not only is the print smaller, but for horses with especially long monikers the names are now condensed to squash them in. Two different font styles are therefore used (normal and condensed) in the limited space which produces a harder to read and messier to look at presentation of the fields. The TAB who pay the Herald Sun to produce the form guides look to have been short changed with the new guide. Sure they’ll fit more info in the guide, but if that information is difficult to read punters will switch off and look elsewhere for their form. This is a typical management decision made to save space and costs - but also no doubt made without customer consultation - because few punters prefer a harder to read form guide. Those that do probably need their head read. What do you think? Email your opinion of the new Herald Sun racing form guide to us at win@aussieraces.com.
